Where Did All Your Money Go?

The Daily Caller brings you this handy dandy visual aid to help you see just how much of your money the government is spending. You may need to lie down for awhile after seeing this, unless you are a leftist in which case you're probably not paying attention.

The Tax Man Cometh

Since the "progressives" been in control of the congress, taxes have exploded. You may have noticed. But if not, don't worry; lots of new taxes are coming your way. John Campbell put together a list not long ago that you may want to check.

Congress's Light Bulb Ban Creates Jobs in China

In this article from the Daily Caller, three congress critters get it right and propose a repeal of the ban on incandescent light bulbs that has had the effect of pushing even more jobs offshore during this economic downturn. And of course the question should be asked of the environmental do-gooders, by what right do you get to decide for everyone else what products we get to use? As we all know, the evidence of fraud that came out of the University of East Anglia shows beyond doubt that the global warming fad is nothing but a hoax. It has been pushed by the green movement for the purpose of social engineering, not because there is any hard data that we have any real control over the climate. If you value a free society, you understand that it's not Washington that should be telling you what kind of bulbs you get to use; that should be your choice.

How Obama Thinks

This article from Forbes, written by Dinesh D'Souza, makes the argument that we can understand the Obama-Fuhrer's anti-Americanism by looking at how the views of anti-colonialists in his background, and in particular his father, shaped his understanding of the world around him. It's an interesting analysis in that it seeks to explain some of the more strange actions by this President that don't make as much sense from a purely Marxist point of view.
Barack Obama is the most antibusiness president in a generation, perhaps in American history. Thanks to him the era of big government is back. Obama runs up taxpayer debt not in the billions but in the trillions. He has expanded the federal government's control over home mortgages, investment banking, health care, autos and energy. The Weekly Standard summarizes Obama's approach as omnipotence at home, impotence abroad.

The President's actions are so bizarre that they mystify his critics and supporters alike. Consider this headline from the Aug. 18, 2009 issue of the Wall Street Journal: "Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling." Did you read that correctly? You did. The Administration supports offshore drilling--but drilling off the shores of Brazil. With Obama's backing, the U.S. Export-Import Bank offered $2 billion in loans and guarantees to Brazil's state-owned oil company Petrobras to finance exploration in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro--not so the oil ends up in the U.S. He is funding Brazilian exploration so that the oil can stay in Brazil.

2010 is Gone for Democrats

At the Politico we have this story that tells us there is an implicit admission that the Obama-Fuhrer is losing support from groups that voted for him in 2008. The tricks that worked two years ago are no longer cutting it. He is losing at least part of his base, and that will be a disaster for the Dems.
“He cannot save 2010,” the big-time Democrat is saying of Barack Obama. “It is gone. He must now concentrate on saving 2012. But the biggest fear of some of those close to him is that he might not really want to go on in 2012, that he might not really care.”

In my experience, the big-time Democrat has hardly ever been wrong. He does not dislike President Obama. On the contrary, like most big-time Democrats, he worked hard for his election in 2008 and would much rather see Democrats hold onto Congress this Nov. 2 than lose.
