And in this column from Michael Goodwin we take a look at the circus provided by the Democrats in the Senate regarding the nomination of Alberto Gonzales. Hey Democrats; do you really think that hispanics won't notice this sort of thing? Think again.

Can MoveOn Move On?
A liberal political group has a plan to rise from the ashes of the Dems’ electoral defeat
In this article from Newsweek reporter Kathryn Williams, we see that the Angry Left refuses to MoveOn. Somehow, despite a crushing defeat at the polls in November with losses across the political landscape, the left refuses to learn the lessons that might allow them to turn their party around and escape the abyss into which it has fallen. Instead they indulge their rich fantasy life with tales of black helicopters hovering over their homes while evil Halliburton executives beam secret messages into their microwave ovens.
Election protest shows why Dems don't count
I heard Tony Snow on the radio yesterday talking about this, and it was very funny indeed. A small group of legislators objecting to the electoral college results because they claim to believe that President Bush, Karl Rove and other evil henchmen sat in a darkened room on election night and used computers to somehow change the votes in counties across the nation. If I may use Mark Steyn's imagery, the Democrat's Angry Left is now officially wrapped up in a straight jacket drooling on itself while the nurse says "Yes Mr. Napoleon, your regiment will be here very, very soon so that you can go attack Russia. I'll be right back with your orange juice."
Of course if Bushco, Halliburton and company really were so inclined, would they not have given themselves a bigger margin of victory? Why not 5% or 10% or 20%? When Saddam and Arafat had their elections, they got 100% of the vote. But even though Bush is an evil genius, he gets only 51% to 48%. What kind of conspiracy is that?
The Case for Democracy
In this article, FrontPageMagazine interviews Russian dissident Natan Sharansky, who provides us with his views on the march of freedom around the world and the methods and motives of dissidents both in Russia and elsewhere.
Blue: The Next Orange?
Forget reform. The U.N. needs regime change.
Claudia Rosett argues that we need regime change at the UN, where you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Sorry About the Light Posting
With the Christmas holiday and a new job that keeps me busy, posting has been light recently. But I will try to get back to a more regular posting schedule with the arrival of the new year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Into the Tar Pits
Dinosaurs either evolve or die.
Victor Davis Hanson offers some advice to the left on how they can update their views and get back to the mainstream, but somehow I don't think they are going to listen.
Media Moments 2004
It’s been a wacky year.
Catherine Seipp brings us a round up of memorable moments from the Old Media in 2004. I think we will be laughing at these people for some time to come.
Nick Coleman, Frustrated Member of The Elite Media Monoculture
Nick Coleman writes for the Star Tribune and in this article he voices his frustration that Time Magazine singles out blogs such as Powerline for attention rather than his own dinosaur media. Of course he wouldn't be complaining if blogs were unimportant. But as many others have pointed out, this was a watershed year for Old Media, and it was not a good one. The Elite Media Monoculture threw everything they had into this election on the side of The Angry Left, all to no avail. The Elite Media Monoculture now lays in smoking ruins after the debacle of Dan Rather's forgerygate, the fabrications put out by The New York Times and the blatant propaganda which has become the signature of Old Media.
Try as they might, the Nick Colemans of Old Media can no longer keep the facts from the American people. Talk radio, Fox, the Internet and Blogsphere have changed the playing field so that anyone with a computer and a modem can now get the information they want without the filtering or "oversight" that Old Media so thoughtfully provided for us in the past. Now we as individuals can read and see for ourselves that there is far more in heaven and on earth than is dreamed of in their philosophy.
Why the Democrats Keep Losing
Joshua Muravchik of The American Enterprise Institute offers this long essay which evaluates some of the various factors involved in the Presidential election. Many factors played a part in the Republican victory and the Democratic debacle, but perhaps the most important reason is the overall lurch of the party to the left. The Angry Left has taken over the Democratic party leaving little room for moderates or conservative Democrats. Voters who are unwilling to turn the governing of the nation over to George Soros, Michael Moore and Janeane Garofalo thus can be expected to vote for the only other alternative party; the Republicans. The Democrats have abandoned the middle of the road voters and have been abandoned in turn by those they need most to win elections. And of course it doesn't help when you spend your time during the campaign insulting the intelligence of those very same voters who you need to pull the lever for your party.
