Why the Democrats Keep Losing

Joshua Muravchik of The American Enterprise Institute offers this long essay which evaluates some of the various factors involved in the Presidential election. Many factors played a part in the Republican victory and the Democratic debacle, but perhaps the most important reason is the overall lurch of the party to the left. The Angry Left has taken over the Democratic party leaving little room for moderates or conservative Democrats. Voters who are unwilling to turn the governing of the nation over to George Soros, Michael Moore and Janeane Garofalo thus can be expected to vote for the only other alternative party; the Republicans. The Democrats have abandoned the middle of the road voters and have been abandoned in turn by those they need most to win elections. And of course it doesn't help when you spend your time during the campaign insulting the intelligence of those very same voters who you need to pull the lever for your party.
