Media Moans

John Podhoretz reports on the unhappiness of The Elite Media Monoculture in this article from The New York Post. In this item we find more whining and gnashing of teeth by those who see themselves as gatekeepers of news and information. They are used to having a monopoly and thus being able to keep all of us here in flyover country from seeing and hearing certain things which might upset the apple cart. But with the rise of talk-radio, Fox and the Internet, the monopoly is gone and the landscape has changed. For those of us in the blogsphere this is a good thing. Americans get a more varied choice and a larger menu from which to consume their news and information. But for The Elite Media Monoculture is spells the end of an era. No longer are the masters of all they survey. No longer can they keep stories under wraps when they might upset delicate liberal sensibilities. No longer can they prevent Americans from getting the Republican or conservative or libertarian point of view on the issues of the day. And that fact spells the end of their power.
