Well it seems that hardly any time has gone by before those wacky Democrats have begun to do all of those crazy things that they promised that they would not do, in order to convince the gullible citizens of this republic to put them in charge again. And here we have an example of just how loony they are and why they cannot be trusted with anything even closely resembling adult responsibility. For Rep. John Conyers is proposing the following resolution which, you may note, singles out the Koran and Islam for special treatment by the government. Note the emphasis in the text below on "preventing" bigotry and demanding "respect" for a religious faith. You know, I thought Democrats were against the idea of government being involved in the promotion of religious ideas. I guess that some religious beliefs are more equal than others. And I can't help but wonder just how such a proposal will be enforced. Will Democrats demand that "hate speech" codes become the law of the land? Will the kind of insanity that has become the norm at your local leftist university be imposed across the country? And if you don't want to surrender your First Amendment right to genuinely free speech, what then? Will Nancy Pelosi arrest you while claiming that it is "for the children?"
Resolved, That the House of Representatives -
1. condemns bigotry, acts of violence, and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors, and citizens of the Islamic faith;
2. declares that the civil rights and civil liberties of all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith, should be protected;
3. recognizes that the Quran, the holy book of Islam, as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect; and
4. calls upon local, State, and Federal authorities to work to prevent bias-motivated crimes and acts against all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith.
