Taken Aback in Washington

Sean Higgins writes in The American Spectator that the Angry Left is holding yet another event to try to convince themselves that the last several elections were all a big mistake and that the American people really meant to vote Democratic and would have done so but for the "right-wing message machine." Such delusion of course makes it certain that they will continue to lose elections for some time to come unless they get some miraculous stroke of good fortune. The problem for them is that the socialist message is one which just does not sell, now that voters have access to real debate and information from all sides.

When you have a party with Howard Dean screaming at religious voters, claiming that Republicans are all angry white Christians, and Rosie O'Donnell on TV screeching at the top of her lungs trying to drownd out the words of guest Sean Hannity, you know you are seeing the implosion of a political party. All the conferences and workshops in the world will not solve that problem, because as yet the Democrats refuse to deal with the fact that they have built their party on the foundation of a failed 19th century political ideology. And with the Angry Left in charge of the party apparatus and fundraising, it is doubtful that they will want to do the soul searching that would lead to real change. For those filled with rage and hate, it is always easier to blame others for one's own failures
