The 9/11 Report's Straight Shooting on Islamist Terror

Daniel Pipes gives us his take on the 9-11 commission report and finds it to be surprisingly good. In fact, he says, it makes some interesting and very relevant statements which need to be made and which have not yet become common in the lexicon of most of our political figures. The "War on Terror" is, after all, really a war against Islamofascism. And that means fighting not just the various Islamic terrorist groups, but also fighting the dictatorial ideology behind them which has much currency in the Muslim world. The fight against the guys with the guns and bombs has so far been going pretty well. But the second is a somewhat more complicated matter. As Americans who value our freedom and traditions we need to defend them philosophically first against those at home who are on the side of the Islamofascists. And second we need to do what we can to promote and help those in the Muslim world who do want reform and change from the insanity which currently rules in that part of the world. Only when the political ideology of Islamofascism from both the American left as well as from the Middle East is discredited, will we be safe again.
