Will all the flag waving work for Democrats this year?
John Fund writes about the lack of a bounce from the recent Democratic convention. As he points out, since World War II, every challenger who has unseated a president has led after his convention. Kerry not only did not get a "bounce" but, in fact, lost ground. This is not good news for the Kerry campaign, but it is good news for the country. The Democrats tried very hard at their recent convention to put on a patriotic and fiscally conservative face. But the voters seem to know that it's just stage make-up to be taken off at the earliest opportunity. I don't think Kerry will be getting the lead role after this audition.
